ATPL Distance Education Program
General Structure: Courses are delivered by self-study hard copy notes, or via the Internet depending on your preference. The training modules and assessment modules are supplied to you, as well as the model answers, and where applicable the model working. This means you do not have to send away assignments for critique/marking – you can assess your own progress. Plenty of practice review cyba-exams are provided to get you CASA exam ready.
Cost: $2174 per student for Internet delivered courses, or $2,393 if you prefer book delivered courses. All prices include GST. A $100.00 discount applies if all seven subjects are purchased together. You can buy each subject one at a time if you prefer-see individual fee schedule below.

Subject Matter: As per the current CASA ATPL syllabus.
Exam Cost: NOT included in the course fee. Exams are delivered by computer, with instant results after finishing. These are called “Cyber Exams“.
Exam Venue: There are various official locations around Australia.
The CASA Exams: There are 7 separate
exams. The subjects are Flight Planning, Aerodynamics and Aircraft Systems,
Navigation, Meteorology, Performance and Loading, Air Law, and Human Factors.
Pass mark is 70%, except in Air Law, which is 80%.
The exams are sat individually, are available on a weekly basis, and examination registration closes 1 week before the scheduled examination dates. CASA no longer administer the exams, this being done now by a private company called Assessment Services Ltd. Course materials to be
supplied by candidates: Your usual navigation equipment, including a WAC
ruler, prayer wheel (eg: Jeppesen CR3), sufficient lined note paper, and a
battery powered calculator with square route and memory functions. Also a copy
of the B727 flight planning manual. Complete ERC High and Low charts for
Australia and the AIP complete, CAR’s and CAO’s. These can be purchased via the
web at any of our distributors.
Specialist ATPL Training: The ATPL theory is the highest level course conducted by my organisation. It is my signature course, though BAK, PPL, CPL, and Basic Gas Turbine (Jet) Engine theory products are also produced. Avfacts is a CASA registered theory provider. Pride is taken in the high standard of tuition given, and the resultant high candidate pass rates for which I am renowned.

Distance Learning format: This involves you reading the subject texts and answering the assignment questions at your leisure, whether by Internet or paper training manuals. Model answers/references are also provided. No amount of effort has been spared to ensure you feel confident in what you are doing. The idea is for you to progressively sit the ATPL exams in these subject areas over time, as it suits you. Practice Examinations: These are provided for all topics. They are carefully
constructed to ensure they are relevant to the CASA syllabus, examination style
and depth. They are delivered online as cyber-exams, just like the CASA
Helpline: This is provided for your convenience by phone, fax, or via the email at firstname.lastname@example.org
I personally attend to any queries you may have, and you are encouraged to use the helpline to save study time.
The exams should preferably be attempted in a certain order to give yourself the best chance of passing on first attempt. Some subjects are best tackled one at a time, while some others may be blocked together. I will give you the advice you need here.
Pass rate: As my previous students will attest, almost all pass each of the
CASA exams on first attempt. They enjoy a first sit pass rate that is up to 400%
greater than the national average, especially in flight planning, navigation,
and aerodynamics and systems subjects. This is largely because of the
straightforward teaching method, and abbreviated routines used to cut the time
required to get the correct answer where calculations are required. Obviously, I
cannot guarantee you a pass – you will need to put in the work..
Exam Credit Validity: You must pass all seven exams within three years of attempting the first, or risk having to undertake a re-sit of all examination topics. Completion of all seven topics within the three years allocated, means you hold a frozen ATPL, the licence itself being issued on your gaining the required flight experience. Currently, there is no flight test required for issue of the Australian ATPL licence.

What you will find on this course: Topics are delivered in a simplistic way to allow you to find the correct examination model answer in the least time, and with the least working. I have a philosophy that less working means a reduced chance of errors. I know the easy ways of tackling the typical ATPL type questions, and throughout the courses I will teach you the “command sense- no nonsense” way of getting marks on the board, especially in the flight planning examination.
What you won’t find on these courses: There is no extraneous data presented, only that which is relevant. You do not have to be a “whizz-kid” to pass this examination, simply dedicated to the task, and prepared to work steadily and diligently through the course material. The information presented is designed not only to assist you passing the exam, but also to prepare you for an airline interview thereafter, especially the demanding technical examination.
Remember: An ATPL pass may get you the airline interview, but only knowledge will get you the job !

General: The ATPL examination is viewed as a filter for the airlines. Passing it is a pre-requisite before you will be considered for an interview with major airlines, irrespective of the flying experience you may possess.
The ATPL licence is the highest form of licence world-wide, and qualifies you to act as Captain on aircraft up to the B747-400. Consequently the demands placed on candidates by the examination are understandably high. The ATPL theory should be considered by you as being the first part of your airline command training.
